We pick out 150 sets from some of our favourite artists, producers and selectors
A few weeks ago (11 August 2025) the RA Podcast series hit the 1000 mixes mark, launching its very own dedicated archive to celebrate the occasion: https://1000.ra.co
The series got off the ground in 2006 during the peak of MSN, MySpace, music forums, blogs and of course, minimal. Given how much the digital landscape has changed in the same time, there’s no denying how much of a milestone this is for the platform. Having etched itself a notable presence at the cornerstone of Electronic music and fuel its expansion across the globe over the last 2 decades.
Like many out there, we first became aware of RA and their mix series reasonably early on. As the switch over from dial-up internet connections evolved to broadband, downloads and streaming really started to take off. What with faster internet connection speeds making the task of listening to music online less of a chore. From around 2007 onwards, we became a regular follower of the series as the likes of Âme, Dixon, Sebo K, Efdemin, Anja Schneider, Prosumer, Chateau Flight and many more featured in those early days.
At a time when a new generation were finding their feet on dancefloors further afield, thanks to the growth of low cost airlines and cheap get aways. A new cohort of DJs and artists rose to prominence and a wave of stripped back sounds took hold. Helping cement the ascendance of Berlin as the new mecca for Electronic music in the process. Winning the hearts and minds of party goers and professionals alike, post hedonistic boom of Ibiza/London/NYC during the golden 90s era (when life had been somewhat simpler).
It’s certainly been an interesting journey over that time with a lot of ground covered, not to mention incredible music being given a chance to shine. There’s also no denying RA is not without it’s own controversies either as a certain Omar S put it succinctly in one of his album titles: Simply (Fuck Resident Advisor)
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been reflecting on and digging through the archive, not only to have a listen back to music we like and highlight some of the music that’s really resonated with us. But also to remind ourselves that’s a LOT of guff out there which we’re more than happy to skip over (what makes move is always subjective to some degree). Admittedly, the initial aim of this article was to narrow down our choice to a top 100. But as with many things, it became apparent this was not going to be such an easy task. After all, how do you decide where to start, and where do you end?
After a couple of week’s revision, here’s where we landed.
