Fresh faced London producer makes her debut with a helping hand from Floating Points aka Sam Shepherd.
London producer LAY and the man better known as Floating Points come together on this fantastic debut EP – Portrait 01. As you’d expect, the results are nothing short of sublime as the combo delivers four tracks jammed with jazzy touches, live instrumentation – including sublime strings and silky acoustic guitars and keys. A serious collection of sun inspired grooves, the EP focuses on softly rounded rhythms that bears all the hallmarks of Shepherd’s work. There’s much to admire, from the orchestral embrace hug of the house-time waltz “Seeds”, to the gassy bounce of the equally dreary-eyed “Still”, which features a glimpse of things to come with LAY’s sultry vocals. The sparse, cavernous sweep of “Origin” is also a pure delight and as debuts go, this is a real winner. Definitely one to acquire before they run out!
