East Anglia’s finest acid beatmaker MOY spins up ‘The Caustic Wymondham EP’ for Offen Music

After making a series of waves in various shapes and sizes over the last 5+ years, MOY is definitely no stranger to dedicated fans of UK Electronic music.

Having graced the likes of Batrachian, Touched Electronix, AC Records, Altered Sense, EMOTEC, Exalt, Zodiac Wax, We’re Going Deep, Nocta Numerica, Fourier Transform, Analogical Force, Syncrophone and more. It should come as no surprise that his expertly crafted tones have been finding favour amongst some of the finest underground taste makers, far and wide.

This time around, Vladimir Ivkovic has tapped up East Anglia’s leading braindancer and esteemed chairman of the “Acid Norwich” nighttime funk association. Resulting in ‘The Caustic Wymondham EP’: 4 superlative cuts of his trademark breakbeat tinged, IDM-inflected magic. Wrapped up in waves of melancholic braindance that shuffles between 303 infused 2-step and a healthy dose of breaks, all whilst summoning the spirit of the Twin himself. This latest excursion demonstrates once again MOY’s fine grasp of the classic late 90s style and sound, all retweaked for the present day.

The EP hits the ground running on Side A with ‘Phaseacid’ as he melds overdriven 303 to a mellow 2-step swing, whilst choral pad progressions inject a healthy dose of sentiment that’s sure to translate to uplifted dancefloors and intimate spaces alike. All in all, it’s a slice of mellow bliss that really lifts the vibe. Finessing his passion for the sound a little further, ‘Outburst’ swings to tighter 808 percussion as he unleashes a full dose of electro-house-acid-breaks with added rimshots that brings the affair to the boil.

Over on the B-Side, ‘Strange Geometry’ shuffles into acid-activation as gentle rhythmic patterns build in layers and as ethereal melody takes hold, a Reese-type bottom end follows in harmony. Last but not least, the 4/4 kick and offbeat bass of ‘Platonic Solid’ lead as an acidic hook soars and meanders to the groove, all culminating in riotous joy.

In the words of MOY himself, these are “four beloved tunes to impress your friends” – we really don’t disagree.
