The longstanding Scottish electronic music maestro revisits a much sought after gem from his back catalogue – Eminesence
With 3 decades of production and releasing music behind him, Glasgow born artist, producer and DJ Vince Watson has maintained a level of consistency and credibility in his output that few can match. Whether you find yourself digging through his earlier Techno focused work for the likes of Rotation, Bio, Ingoma and Superbra. Or, you care to peruse the lush variations in depth of his House and Detroit tinged material for imprints such Alola, Planet E, F Com, Mule, Delsin, and of course Yoruba Soul. There’s a lot of ground to cover.
In the last 10 years, one of Watson’s biggest selling tracks (but hard to find on vinyl) ‘Eminescence’ gets the rework and remaster treatment, with a repress on his own Everysoul Audio imprint. While the original release landed on Osunlade’s Yoruba Records back in 2015 as part of a 4 track EP, it was only ever part of a limited vinyl run. Having felt the time was right to go back and produce a 2026 rework, ‘Eminescence’ is sounding better than ever on this full sided 12” pressing. Melding a crisp rhythmic foundation to a powerfully cutting angular bassline, his unmistakable layered approach to piano and synth arrangement glides into the groove as he strikes that unmistakable balance between waves of deep emotion and dancefloor energy. As the track steadily builds, shimmering strings and glistening keys capture the moment, all of which radiate a rich timeless musicality that defines so much of his work.
On the flipside, Reach For The Sun (Floor Mix) is a fresh interpretation of a track that first appeared on his “Every Soul Needs A Guide” LP. This time, Watson leans firmly towards the club and dancefloor – powered by a 4/4 kick, driving percussion and vibrant jazz inflected elements. Choosing to lead with soaring strings, bright chords and uplifting melodic elements that simply keep elevating the mood. There is so much that evokes the spirit of classic Detroit inspired house and techno music here, whilst Watson effortlessly maintains a sleek modern edge to his production and an all round joyfull essence that is very much unique to his sound. Expect to hear both cuts catch on with more discerning dancefloors in the months ahead.
