Laurent Garnier comes home to F Communications with the release of a box set compilation
When top French DJ and musician Laurent Garnier recently announced the return of his much loved F Communications imprint for the one time release of a compilation “La Home Box” – we couldn’t help but raise a smile and have a moment reminiscing about days of yore. Given the stature of the label’s presence and extensive musical catalogue, it was a sad day to see the fruits and a huge labour of love be put to rest. Although the label has been dormant since 2008, Garnier has chosen to compile an expansive boxset of his 2014 works, along with a previously unheard 12″ (entitled Honey, I’m Home) and a stack of new remixes.
On a musical level, the compilation is rather typical of the Frenchman’s style, encompassing everything from sweaty techno, throbbing house and quirky electronica to bumping instrumental hip-hop. Having been responsible for kickstarting the careers of some major talents such as St Germain, Shazz, Mr Oizo, Lorca and Aqua Bassino – alongside Garnier himself. In honour of the occasion, we’ve decided to dig out some highlights from the catalogue:
Shazz – Leave Me
D.S. – June
Laurent Garnier – Astral Dreams Speakers Mix
St. Germain – What’s New
Aqua Bassino – That Time
Scan X – Process Cyan
Reminiscent Drive – Flame One
Jii Hoo – Let Me Luv U
Llorca – The End
Soul Designer – Detroit Sound
