New music, and more great videos

It’s the weekend, time to kick back and relax… well, some of us are which is why we’ve taken the time to dig around the wonderful world of the web and serve up another selection of fresh music, cut to some some really great video.

Fela Kuti’s “Zombie” Meets NYC Flex Dance

Starring NYC dancers from the film “Flex Is Kings” and directed by Dominick Sheldon, this expertly crafted dance piece was co-published with NOWNESS. Flizzo, Opt, Jay Donn, Sedo, and Danny interpret the enticing afrobeat rhythms of Fela Kuti by ‘flexing’: a style of dance that comes straight out of East Brooklyn.

Old English ft. Young Thug, Freddie Gibbs & A$AP Ferg

A snappily colourful creation from  up and coming Bristol based director/animator Ruffmercy –  making the most of a rotoscoped animation style, the afro-art inspired drawings give this a cutting synergy with the edgy nature of the music. A +++

Total Giovanni – Can’t Control My Love

Sherwin Akbarzadeh directs this video for the 5-piece Melbourne-based band – Total Giovanni: a heart-waming tale of youthful fancy and innocence all put together with a grainy finish. A sweet tale that illustrates the essence of warmth in the music. Anyone for sweeties?

Flying Lotus – Coronus, The Terminator

Another treasure courtesy of the mercurial talent that is Flying Lotus. Directed by L.A. based  Young Replicant, he adds his magic to this sumptuous video for “Coronus, The Terminator” which featured on last year’s You’re Dead album. A haunting, apocalyptic tale that sits somewhere between Dawn of the Dead and surreal visions.
