Canadian Dub Techno mainstay Mark Thibideau drops 4 exceptional cuts on We’re Going Deep

Chief operator at We’re Going Deep, Paul Wise aka Placid is a longstanding DJ/Electronic music enthusiast who stands behind the ever growing online community and record label.

On the latest edition, Wise brings the sounds of another highly experienced underground House and Techno fusionist to his imprint – Canadian Dub Techno mainstay Mark Thibideau. There’s no doubting his pedigree as a producer and DJ, hailing from Wallaceburg (Ontario) alongside his twin Brother Matt, Mark has been conjuring his own brand of sonic sorcery as far back as the 90s via various aliases and projects. Renown for his deeply soaked sound design that straddles the depths of Basic Channel’s aesthetic with a more altogether velours finish. He’s graced the likes of Joule and Berg Audio in recent times, releasing some much sought after EPs.

Offering 4 equally silk edged yet powerfully crafted grooves, the EP opens with the refreshing roll of A1 “Circulate” as Thibideau unleashes a powerful slice of understated, bass rumbling, primetime workout material, all shot through a slow filter. The type of hypnotic cut that’s designed to do maximum damage at HIGH volume, a seriously restrained piece of magic. Followed by the upward trajectory of A2 “Rotation”, he continues his mission in the same vein but with more open frequencies – propelling you to the outer reaches and leaving you wanting a whole lot more.

Over on the flip, B1 “Overcome Gravity” is a breezy flight through the upper reaches of the atmosphere. Combining tightly swung percussion with shimmering synthesis, all wrapped in undulating elements that basque in the warm glow of a mid summers evening. It’s a much welcome invitation. Accompanied with the slightly more introspective tones of A2 “The Fading Future” – minor chords lead to metronomic beats, leaving the bassline follow their path as the track twists and turns whilst taking hold. An equally masterful trip to other worldly territory, you can’t help but admire his poise.

In all, this is one of those EPs that’s too good to miss out on. Once heard, it’ll grab the ears and the imagination with plenty of potential to be a sure fire hit with discerning dance floors across the globe.
